Irene Flores has two dogs, Nala and Chase. While Nala is already spayed, she’s been overdue for vaccinations for some time.

Ms. Flores has hesitated to take her to the vet out of fear that the veterinarian might recommend euthanasia. Nala was attacked by another dog, leaving her with nerve damage that causes twitching. When Ms. Flores asked for my opinion, I reassured her that Nala doesn’t look nearly as bad as some of the dogs I’ve seen that needed to be put down. Ms. Flores was visibly relieved, and she shared how the fear of losing her 15-year companion had been weighing heavily on her. She was incredibly grateful that I stopped by.

Ms. Flores also mentioned that without PAAC, she wouldn’t have been able to afford vaccinations for Nala. Living on a fixed income, she was already struggling with rising insurance costs and was about to add dental insurance, thinking she could manage it. With the support of Pets for Life, she feels it’s one less burden to worry about. Ms. Flores is now planning to schedule Nala’s vaccinations and also have Chase neutered. She would have done so already but wants to coordinate with getting her yard sprayed for fleas on the same day as the surgery. She believes that PAAC’s visit was truly a blessing from God.
